The Game Awards 2021 menjadi salah satu yang paling unik di sepanjang tahun ini. Hal ini karena tahun ini adalah masa transisi dari console lama ke console baru yang membutuhkan waktu lama untuk kembangkan gamenya. Ini belum termasuk kendala pandemi yang tengah melanda.
Meskipun tak semua game andalan bisa muncul tahun ini, namun hal ini tak membuat The Game Awards 2021 tak memberikan penghargaannya.
