Sempat tertunda beberapa hari akibat diadakannya China Super Major yang baru saja berakhir dengan Team Liquid berhasil mematahkan kutukan pemenang The International yang biasanya tidak dapat memenangkan ajang besar apapun tahun depannya. Akhirnya updaye 7.17-pun hadir, dan bisa dibilang merupakan update yang cukup unik dibandingkan dengan update-update sebelumnya.
Dalam update kali ini, Valve secara garis besar hanya melakukan nerf yang cukup besar pada tiga hero yang sedang cukup ramai di Gameplay Meta sekarang yakni IO, Leshrac dan juga Gyrocopter. Beberapa hero lainnya yang terkena nerf seperti Bane, Lycan, Night Stalker, Beast Master dan juga Sand King yang juga merupakan hero yang sedang ramai dalam gameplay meta sekaranghanya mendapatkan nerf yang sangat kecil dan nampaknya takkan mempengaruhi gameplay mereka terlalu banyak.
Namun disisi lain, Valve memberi banyak sekali hero sebuah buff yang membuat beberapa dari hero tersebut sangat mungkin untuk bisa masuk Gameplay Meta untuk beberapa hari kedepan, yang juga akan menjadi Meta untuk ajang kualifikasi The International 8.
Sebut saja Tiny yang mendapatkan movement speed tambahan, cleave damage-nya yang dinaikan menjadi 150% dari hanya 130%, dan Grow Status Ressistancenya yang mendapatkan tambahan 10% setiap levelnya akan membuat Tiny dapat kembali menjadi salah satu hero core yang cukup menakutkan. Masih banyak hero lainnya yang mungkin kalian harus perhatikan lebih lanjut juga.
Nampaknya Valve masih ingin mencoba untuk mengubah meta yang sekarang bisa dibilang cukup stagnan dan masih bergantung pada 4-8 hero saja. Berhasil atau tidaknya Valve untuk menambah jumlah hero yang akan dipick dalam ajang-ajang sebelum The International 8 pastinya akan kita bisa lihat sebentar lagi, dimulai dari Open Qualifier The International 8 yang akan dimulai minggu depan!
