Interview Digimon Survive – Digimon Survive adalah game Tactic RPG dengan karakter Digimon yang dikembangkan oleh Bandai Namco. Sempat mengalami penundaan, akhirnya game ini akan segera meluncur dalam waktu dekat.
Gamebrott mendapat kesempatan untuk mewawancarai Produser Digimon Survive, Kazumasa Habu. Berikut adalah sedikit informasi tambahan tentang game ini.

Gamebrott : Apakah Partner Digimon kita dapat diganti ataukah setiap karakter hanya memiliki 1 Digimon sebagai Partner mereka?
KH: Agumon merupakan Partner Digimon tetap karakter utama dalam game ini.
Gamebrott : Bisakah anda membagikan informasi lebih tentang evolution line untuk para digimon dalam game ini?
KH : Partner Digimon karakter utama akan berevolusi seiring perjalanan cerita, dan bagaimana setiap Digimon berevolusi akan tergantung dengan “Karma” point yang didapat pemain melalui pilihan yang mereka ambil seiring cerita berlanjut.
Sebagai hasilnya, tidak mungkin untuk mendapatkan setiap Digivolution selama 1 permainan game. Digimon dari karakter teman pemain juga akan mendapatkan event Digivolution yang terbuka dengan mencapai cabang cerita tertentu ataupun mengembangkan ikatan yang kuat dengan karakter kita. Sementara itu, monster liar dapat berevolusi menggunakan item spesial yang didapat dengan mencarinya ataupun cara lain.
Gamebrott : Apakah Fusion atau Jogress Digimon tersedia dalam game ini?
KH : Jogress maupun Digimon Fusion tidak dimasukan dalam judul ini.
Gamebrott : Kalau begitu, Apakah Armor Digivolution tersedia dalam game ini?
KH : Armor Digivolution juga tidak dimasukkan dalam game ini.
Gamebrott : Pada salah satu trailer promo, ada adegan dimana Agumon berevolusi menjadi Greymon dalam sebuah pertarungan. Dan adegan tersebut terlihat mirip seperti Anime Digimon Adventure, apakah anda dapat menjelaskan bahwa hal tersebut adalah kebetulan ataukah salah satu tribute kepada Animenya?
KH : Meskipun game ini tidak berbagi elemen yang ada di Digimon Adventure dalam hal jalan cerita dan settingnya, identitas visual oleh Hiroyuki Kakudo yang merupakan direktur untuk Digimon Adventure merupakan dasar visual untuk Digimon Survive. Fokus penggambaran Digimon sebagai makhluk mistik dari dunia lain yang berbeda dari makhluk digital yang selama ini ada.
Digimon Survive memang memberikan tribut kepada Anime tersebut di beberapa elemennya. Cerita berawal mirip seperti Digimon Adventure, akan tetapi perbedaan besarnya adalah karakter Digimon Adventure merupakan “anak – anak terpilih” sementara protagonis di game ini merupakan anak anak biasa yang terjebak diluar kendali mereka.
Sebagai hasilnya, setiap karakter memiliki respon yang berbeda dari situasi ini, beberapa menerima monster mereka sedangkan sisanya menolak. Beberapa karakter belajar untuk berkembang dan melewati masalah mereka, dan beberapa karakter hancur oleh tekanan masalah. Protagonis yang masih remaja ini akan menghadapi cobaan yang tidak selalu berakhir positif, dan jalan cerita juga akan berbeda dari Digimon Adventure.

Gamebrott : Is the Partner Digimon changeable or does each character only have 1 Digimon as their partner?
KH : Agumon is fixed as the main character’s partner Digimon in this title.
Gamebrott : Would you be able to share more about the evolution line for the Digimon in this game?
KH : The main character’s partner Digimon will evolve as the story proceeds, and how each Digimon evolves will depend on the “Karma” points accrued by the player through the decisions made over the course of the story.
As a result, it will not be possible to unlock every Digivolution during a single playthrough of the game. The Digimon of your companion characters will have their Digivolution events unlocked by accessing certain story branches, or by developing strong bonds with the player character. Meanwhile, wild monsters can be evolved by using special items which can be obtained by searching or through other means.
Gamebrott : Is fusion possible for the Digimon in this game?
KH : Digimon Fusion is not incorporated in this title.
Gamebrott : Will there be an armour digivolution in the game?
KH : Armour Digivolution is also not incorporated in this title.
Gamebrott : In one of the promotional trailers, there is a scene where Aguman evolves into Greymon during the battle. As the evolution scene looks similar to that in the anime, Digimon Adventure, would you be able to share if that is a coincidence, or is it a tribute to the anime?
KH : While this title does not share any elements with Digimon Adventure in terms of its story and setting, Digimon Adventure series’ director, Hiroyuki Kakudo’s conceptions of the various Digimon visual identities did form the basis for their appearances in Digimon Survive. The focus on the depiction of Digimon as mystical beings from another universe, rather than as digital beings, is one area in which this influence can be strongly felt.
In that respect, the title does feature homages to the anime in a number of its elements. The story begins in a similar situation to that seen in Digimon Adventure, but the major difference would be that the heroes of Digimon Adventure are seen as the “chosen ones”, while the protagonists of our title are ordinary children caught up in events beyond their control.
As a result, they each have their own responses to the situation — some accept their monsters while others reject them, some learn to overcome their problems and grow, while others are crushed beneath the pressure. As our adolescent protagonists undergo trials that do not necessarily always lead to positive results, the story diverges quite dramatically from that of Digimon Adventure.
