The Game Awards digelar pertama kali pada 2014 yang lalu dengan menghadirkan berbagai kategori, dan pada 2015 ini The Game Awards akan digelar kembali pada 3 Desember di Los Angeles, California.

Nominasi untuk The Game Awards 2015 dipilih oleh juri dari 32 media internasional, dengan persyaratan game harus dirilis secara komersial Selasa, 24 November untuk mendapatkan penghargaan. Lalu untuk kategori eSports, dipilih oleh panel penasehat yang terdiri dari organisasi dan situs-situs eSports.

Pada tahun sebelumnya, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Destiny, Mario Kart 8, Valiant Hearts: The Great War menguasai The Game Awards 2014 dengan masing-masing membawa pulang dua penghargaan.

Dan pada tahun ini, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt menguasai dengan enam nominasi di berbagai kategori yaitu di Game of the Year, Best RPG, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score or Soundtrack dan Best Performance.
