Tahun 2018 dipenuhi dengan kumpulan game bagus, namun hanya beberapa diantaranya yang memang berhak untuk dapatkan penghargaan sebanyak mungkin. Pada acara Game Developer Choice Awards yang sesuai namanya merupakan acara penghargaan yang dimana pemenangnya ditentukan oleh pilihan para developer itu sendiri, satugame berhasil menjadi game yang hampir borong semua kategori nominasi. Game tersebut ialah game open-world bertema western dari Rockstar – Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 berhasil masuk dalam 7 dari 10 kategori nominasi. God of War dan Spider-Man menyusul RDR 2 untuk jumlah nominasi terbanyak dengan masing-masing game miliki 6 nominasi.
